Argentina: NOVOGEN attends the 10th Edition of the International Veterinary Meeting
From 24th to 26th August, the 10th edition of the "International Veterinary Meeting" was held in Mar del Plata, Argentina. This event is organised by the University of Veterinarians of Buenos Aires Province.
During three days, more than 1,000 people attended the exhibition and seminars. For more than 15 years, the event is considered to be the most important in the country. Researchers, students, veterinarians as well as any professional working in the veterinary field have attended the meetings and conferences during these three days.
At the poultry level, international speakers addressed topics concerning broilers and layers.
Thierry Burlot, NOVOGEN Geneticist, presented "Selection program of the NOVOGEN layers" explaining the work done at NOVOGEN R&D level. The main objective was to share the methods used in NOVOGEN's breeding program selecting for different criteria to further improve the productivity, good persistency and good egg shell quality.
Other presentations, for instance about animal welfare, led to many questions and exchanges during the event. Thierry Burlot's lecture confirmed NOVOGEN's drive to select a bird able to adapt to various production systems or climatic conditions. Argentina is a good example of countries where temperatures can be extreme in summers and winters.
