Pamed 2018: Tunisian layer hatcheries visiting the SOTAVI - NOVOGEN stand
The withdrawal of the quota-system for layer breeders in Tunisia had led in 2015 to a doubling of parent stock placements (about 120,000 against about 60,000 during the quota period) causing probably the most severe crisis ever faced by the Tunisian egg industry.
In 2017, there has been a return to the prior authorisations of imports and therefore to the limitations of volumes of breeding stock placed, more or less based on the previous quota. A long-term decision, reassuring the various parts of chain in the egg industry, but obviously this will require some adaptations.
Today NOVOGEN represents about 30% of the local Tunisian market. The feedback from the field during Pamed is very encouraging for the future and very interesting for the layer hatcheries to come to meet Novogen at their stand.
