Brazilian delegation visits NOVOGEN
From 13thto 19thOctober 2019, a delegation of Brazilian producers came to Europe to visit NOVOGEN facilities and meet the teams.
This group included representatives from some of Brazil’s leading companies. After a trip to Paris, the group went to Brittany to visit NOVOGEN facilities. The teams gave several presentations on various subjects: the egg market in France and abroad, the genetic programme, product performance, etc.
The presentations were followed by visits to breeding farms and the Zootest egg quality laboratory. The majority of producers in Brazil market their eggs directly under their own brand name. Measures that ensure the quality of the eggs are therefore essential if consumer expectations are to be met.
Farms with NOVOgen Brown laying hens were also visited. The calm behaviour and the quality of the hens’ feathering could be seen by all in various production systems: enriched cages, aviaries and free range.
According to Alexis Carfantan (Sales Representative in Brazil): “During this type of visit it is essential to convey the reality of the French market to producers, including its difficulties and opportunities. In France, experience in the use of alternative systems is developing rapidly. The main reason for this type of visit is to put a local producer in touch with Brazilian producers. Rich discussions were had, particularly on issues related to the technical monitoring of animals, European animal welfare and environmental standards, feed manufacturing, and many other issues concerning the production of eggs for consumption.”
In addition to appreciating the docility of the Novogen Brown hens, producers also had the opportunity to evaluate egg quality, productivity, and the good technical results that our strains provide.
Finally, the group went to Holland to visit the Verbeek hatchery, which is NOVOGEN's distributor in the Netherlands and is also active in the export market. Tercio Rodrigues, Sales Director for Novogen Do Brasil, also accompanied the group during this trip: “Visiting such a modern hatchery provides a great opportunity to bring producers up to speed with logistics and internal organisation practices. Everything is set up so that customers are provided with an optimal quality chick.”
